In December 2014, I embarked on a business trip to Singapore, a dynamic global hub known for its innovation and efficiency. The trip involved engaging meetings with key industry leaders, networking opportunities, and deploying Cisco Voice Router at a Secret Location. During my stay, I also explored Singapore’s corporate landscape, experiencing its world-class infrastructure, diverse culture, and strategic business environment.
Your first international trip is always a special experience—filled with excitement, anticipation, and a bit of nervousness. From packing your bags to stepping onto the plane, every moment feels like the start of a new adventure. The thrill of exploring a new country, experiencing different cultures, and trying unfamiliar foods makes it unforgettable. Whether it's the breathtaking views from the airplane window, the rush of navigating a foreign airport, or the joy of ticking off a dream destination from your list, a first international trip is truly a milestone worth cherishing!
I expected cool weather, packed jackets, and then arrived to find it was hot and humid. By the time I reached my Hotel, it started raining. I learned from hotel reception that the weather is better in evenings. I enjoyed a couple of walks while staying in Somerset Hotel.
I tried my first Teh-Tarik beverage there and it was worth all the hype. Spent next 5 days drinking that twice a day, no doubt it was full of sugar. Frankly, didn't care much as a vegetarian, I tried eating whatever veg food or beverage came across.
I started posting my photos on Facebook and one of my College Friend sent me message, to my surprise, He was working in Singapore. I guess he still works there. Anyways, he asked me to meet in person and I was so excited to see a known face after three days. He even took me to Silat Road Sikh Temple where he was working as an Assistant Finance Manager.
Tried the tallest building Guoco Tower and the views were amazing. I met another Singaporean there who explained how Singapore has two major piping system connected to Indonesia. How rain water is harvested and it has become a self sufficient country.
I returned back to India with new learnings, experiences and memories.
